Radioamatørstasjonen er Marves stolthet og hobby. Som ivrig radioamatør har han skaffet seg venner over hele verden, og i «Radioten» ser han for seg å kunne utnytte eteren i menneskehetens tjeneste — med de forviklingene det fører til. Stasjonen er en fast rekvisitt i leiligheten og et tilbakevendende uttrykk for Marves trang til å være betydningsfull fra sin egen stue.

The ham-radio station is Marve's pride and hobby. As an avid radio amateur he has made friends all over the world, and in "Radioten" he imagines putting the airwaves to work in the service of humankind — with all the entanglements that brings. The station is a standing prop in the flat and a recurring expression of Marve's urge to be important from his own living room.
